Mo Egeston All-Stars: What is Progressive Soul? featuring Coco Soul and Mario Pascal
Kranzberg Arts Center, 501 North Grand Boulevard, Saint Louis, MO
Taking inspiration from a variety of sources Mo E All-Stars have created a unique sound around the originals, reworks and arrangements of pianist Mo Egeston. Since his days with the pioneering live house/electronic project Urban Jazz Naturals, Egeston's original music has featured influences of jazz, soul, Latin, funk and all things electronic including deep house and drum and bass. Essentially taking familiar dance and lounge sounds and using them a vehicle for organic grooves. Mo Egeston is also known for reimagining or remixing soul standards, taking full advantage of the like-minded musical sensibilities of core members Grover Stewart Jr. Jr. and Duane “Jingo” Williams. For this special Kranzberg Arts Center set the All-Stars will be joined by longtime friends and collaborators Coco Soul and Mario Pascal, artists who share the crew's open minded approach to music. The concert will feature music by Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Raul Midon, Lanu, Roberta Flack, Donnie Hathaway, Herbie Hanocock and more along with original music by CocoSoul, Mario Pascal and Maurice Mo Egeston.
