On Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 5:00 PM, the sounds of old school gospel will rise in testimony, protest, and praise at the Old School Gospel Concert 2026, themed “Black Power, Resistance, Calling.” The concert will take place at Metropolitan Community Church of Greater St. Louis (MCCGSL), located at 7423 Michigan Ave, St. Louis, MO.

MCCGSL is honored to host this event as a sister church to St. John’s Church and a long-standing partner organization to AhSa-Ti Nu. United by shared commitments to radical inclusion, liberation theology, and community care, MCCGSL looks forward to opening its doors to support this night of gospel, resistance, and collective calling.

This powerful evening of gospel music is a fundraiser benefiting St. John’s UCC Beloved Communities, a Black-led, radically inclusive faith community rooted in North St. Louis. Drawing on the tradition of gospel as both sacred song and freedom cry, the concert centers Black spiritual resistance in a time of profound social, political, and economic upheaval.

Proceeds from the event will directly support the ongoing ministries of St. John’s Church, including the maintenance of North St. Louis’ only vocally abolitionist, Black Queer Feminist faith space, and the expansion of community care programs serving Black queer and trans youth.

The Old School Gospel Concert 2026 invites the wider St. Louis community to gather in song, solidarity, and shared responsibility, affirming that gospel music remains a living force for liberation, healing, and resistance

Mo Egeston All-Stars featuring Nicole Ellis! 🎹 🎤🥁🪘🎸 July 26- Late Night Grooves at the Dark Room

It starts at 10. It’s at the Dark Room. Sounds like Late Night Grooves to me!

Thanks to my time as a resident with Kranzberg Arts Foundation I was able to build on a concept that was born on Washington Ave back in the day. So it’s always fun to return to the Dark Room stage where we have complete artistic freedom.

For this show we’ll be featuring frequent collaborator Nicole Ellis on vocals along with the usual Mo Egeston reworks and originals. We’ll see you Saturday the 26th!

It’s a sound that blends influences of jazz, soul, Latin, funk, r&b and electronic music, hallmarks of his style since his days with the pioneering live house/electronic project Urban Jazz Naturals.

For the Celebrate the Groove shows, Mo expands the band’s sound by collaborating with like-minded vocalists and songwriters from the region which in recent years frequently includes AhSa-Ti Nu, powerhouse vocalist Nikki Ellis and lyricist and vocalist Michelle Higgins who is writing lyrics for some of Mo’s newest originals.

The band features drummer Andrew Gibson, long time bass player Eric “Snoopy” Tyler and original member percussionist Duane “Jingo” Williams. Jingo won’t be available for this show unfortunately but Mo's friend and past frequent collaborator Matthew Von Doran will be on Guitar!
