On December 18 after my early set at the Dark Room, I'll be joining fellow Ghetto Soundwave members Jason Nelson, Jessica Butler John Covelli and Shelby P. Carter Jr. to bring you the high energy sounds of second and third wave ska.
Suffice to say I shouldn't have to go shopping for this event...

The night will feature members from MU330, Isaac Green and the Skalars, Orange Tree, The Urge and Unifyah will pay tribute to bands such as The Toasters, Operation Ivy, The Specials, Rancid, Hepcat, Madness and many more 2 Tone influenced bands.
The label 2 Tone Records spawned the 2 Tone music and cultural movement, which was popular among skinheads, rudies and some mod revivalists.
2 Tone (or Two Tone) was a late-1970s ska revival in the United Kingdom led by Jerry Dammers and The Specials. It fused traditional ska music with punk rock attitude, energy and musical elements. Its name came from the record label that Dammers founded, 2 Tone Records as well as a desire to transcend and defuse racial tensions in Thatcher-era Britain. Although 2 Tone's mainstream commercial appeal was largely limited to the UK, it influenced the North American ska punk movement (also known as third wave ska) in the 1980s and 1990s.
The Ready Room will host Skalidays on Friday, December 18. Doors open at 8pm and show starts at 9. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Sponsored by Sailor Jerry and 4 Hands
