Mo Egeston Music Updates- March 8

Its been a while since I've done an email update but I'm going to get back to it this year.   Facebook and Twitter have a way of sucking you in....

Tonight (Thursday March 8) Soul Alliance featuring CocoSoul will be performing as a trio at Lola.  Lola is located in the Washington Ave loft and entertainment district at the corner of 14th & Washington.  7:30 PM

This show features Sean Holland on bass and of course CocoSoul on vocals. I'll be at the Rhodes and working the beats.

Friday night the 9th I'll also be performing with CocoSoul.  We're doing a dinner set at 1904 Steakhouse at River City Casino.  If the slots aren't your thing, you do not have to enter the gaming floor to see us.  If they are...come see us first.  6-9 PM.

We're planning to be back on the scene with the full Soul Alliance crew later in 2012.  Follow the link to find out about Coco's new arts education venture- The Soul Academy of Music

Speaking of arts education, Egeston Piano Studio is up and running at my new downtown location in the Leather Trades Artist Loft Building.  I continue to enjoy my time teaching at Teipen Performing Arts as well.  Both facilities are planning to have recitals in May where I will be in the accompanist chair.

The Egeston Piano Studio will be joined by the students of Twinda Murry (University City Violin Academy) on May 1 at the Steinway Piano Gallery.  Mowinda Chamber Ensemble will also be performing. Teipen's recital date will be announced soon.

Moving back to the nightlife...

Mo E All-Stars 3 has been having a blast doing our 3rd Saturday Shenanigans Show at the Delmar Lounge.  This month we hit on a different day- Friday March 23 and a new time- 9 PM. I'll be joined by Duane "Jingo" Williams on percussion and Grover Stewart on drums.

Mo E All-Stars full band returns for our monthly Celebrate! event at Lola- Saturday March 31.  We'll be opening up for J.DaVeY + Def Sound + Hawthorne HeadHunters.  Chris Hansen (Leisure Studies) has a done a great job of bringing in a number of progressive soulful underground artists. Its been really cool to share the stage with some of them.

So after 1.5 years of developing the sound I'm finally recommitting to the studio/writing process and eventually an album.  This project will feature the All-Stars and a few special guests.  We'll be moving towards demo tracks sometime this Spring...stay tuned.

Finally its hard to imagine but its time for South By SouthWest again with Brothers Lazaroff.  This trip will be augmented by a few special shows with the great Elizabeth McQueen.  Elizabeth is best known as a vocalist with Asleep at the Wheel but she also records and writes her own material.   We will be performing a few of her tunes- Bros Laz style and she will be singing songs from our set that were written by Jeff and David.

And in April....we release a CD.  More on all things Austin and Bros Laz in next week's update.

Thanks for reading!
